We believe passionately in the power and effectiveness of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous.
Other approaches come and go as the trends in addiction treatment change, but the 12-Step philosophy is the heart of what we do. Twelve-Step programs are the most widely used and well-researched of all the different types of addiction treatments. Put simply, there is no impact like one addict helping another.
Since the 1930s, addicts and alcoholics have turned to the principles of surrender, honesty, humility and acceptance to treat the disease of addiction. We encourage clients to learn from the collective wisdom of a group of people who have accomplished what they haven’t. If you commit yourself fully to the 12-Step principles, you can join the millions of addicts and alcoholics who now enjoy fulfilling, drug-free lives.
We believe that abstinence is the only way to achieve lasting sobriety.
If you’ve struggled with addiction, there is no such thing as one drink or an occasional high. Like a sleeping tiger, the disease continues to grow while in remission and using any mood-altering substance will reawaken the full force of the beast.
In line with our abstinence-based approach, we do not offer long-term maintenance programs (using methadone or Suboxone) to treat opiate addiction. While Subutex and related medications may be used for a brief period of detoxification, our goal is always to rid the body of all mood-altering substances.
We believe that addiction treatment must focus on healing the mind, body and spirit.
Addiction makes us look, feel and act in ways we never would have imagined if we were sober. Because of drugs and alcohol, we become physically, emotionally and spiritually bankrupt.
As part of our comprehensive approach to addiction treatment, we work to restore health to every area of your life:
- Body: We provide a balanced diet and plenty of opportunities for exercise.
- Mind: You will participate in lectures, 12-Step meetings and counseling sessions.
- Spirit: Our Spiritual Director leads a series of workshops for clients and alumni that will help you develop a personal connection with a higher power.
- Qigong groups (an ancient form of meditation) help rebuild the connection between mind, body and spirit.
We believe that addiction treatment must be personalized to meet the individual needs of each client.
Our team of dedicated rehabilitation professionals works cooperatively with you to develop an individualized treatment plan and an aftercare plan that encourages responsibility and commitment to the recovery process. We treat every client with respect and understanding, having been in your shoes ourselves.
Our intake, administrative and clinical staff provides care and continuing support to each client during their stay at Azure Acres Recovery Center. Together we are committed to helping you build a strong foundation for recovery that stays with you for the rest of your life.
